Ayurveda Spa

A personalized approach to well-being, using natural remedies, dietary adjustments, herbal treatments, and lifestyle practices.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient system of natural healing that focuses on achieving balance and harmony within the body, mind, and spirit. Rooted in traditional Indian wisdom, Ayurveda offers a personalized approach to well-being, using natural remedies, dietary adjustments, herbal treatments, and lifestyle practices tailored to each individual's unique constitution and health goals.

In Ayurveda, the concepts of "Prakruti" and "Vikruti" play a pivotal role. "Prakruti" represents an individual's innate, inherent constitution, which is determined at birth and remains relatively stable throughout life. It reflects one's natural balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Understanding your Prakruti allows for personalized health recommendations aligned with your natural state of well-being.

"Vikruti" signifies the current, dynamic state of an individual's constitution, which can shift due to various factors such as diet, lifestyle, and environmental influences. Ayurvedic practitioners assess both Prakruti and Vikruti to identify imbalances and provide tailored guidance to restore harmony and promote optimal health

Ayurvedic dietary and lifestyle counseling is a personalized approach to health and wellness based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. It involves understanding an individual's unique constitution (Prakruti) and current imbalances (Vikruti) to provide tailored guidance. This guidance includes recommendations on specific foods to eat or avoid, meal timing, and herbal supplements. Ayurvedic lifestyle counseling encompasses practices such as dry brushing, self-massage (Abhyanga), yoga, meditation, and daily routines to support physical, mental, and emotional balance. This holistic approach empowers individuals to make choices that promote harmony within themselves and align with the natural rhythms of their body and the Earth.

Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurvedic massage is a deeply rejuvenating and therapeutic massage involving the skillful application of warm, herbal-infused oils to the body, tailored to an individual's unique constitution (Prakruti) and current state (Vikruti). Ayurvedic massage not only promotes physical relaxation but also facilitates the release of mental and emotional tension.

Marma points are specific energy points in the body that are manipulated during the massage. These hold a profound influence on one's physical, mental, and spiritual health. By applying gentle pressure to Marma points, Ayurvedic massage aims to balance energy flows, promote detoxification, and enhance overall vitality.

Shirodhara is a profoundly soothing Ayurvedic therapy that involves a continuous stream of warm herbal oil poured gently onto the forehead (the "third eye" area). This technique induces a deep state of relaxation and tranquility, calming the mind and balancing the nervous system. Shirodhara is renowned for its ability to alleviate stress, anxiety, and insomnia while promoting mental clarity and emotional equilibrium.

Ayurvedic massage and dietary lifestyle consultations are conducted by Mira Gale, a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor through both the Vedic Institute and the Austin Based NAY.  She is an experienced, intuitive massage therapist who draws from both Western and Eastern modalities.  Mira’s Ayurvedic Massages have been called “a massage for the soul”.

Pancha Karma

Panchakarma, derived from the Sanskrit words "Pancha" meaning five and "Karma" meaning actions, is an Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation technique that encompasses five therapeutic actions aimed at eliminating toxins from the body. Typically recommended in the fall and spring, Panchakarma serves as a routine preventative measure to restore balance as the seasons change and it can also be employed as a treatment for chronic medical conditions. This holistic practice of Panchakarma offers a comprehensive cleansing experience for the mind, body, and spirit. Its benefits can enhance longevity, sharpen memory and cognitive abilities, reduce stress, and amplify sensory perception ultimately boosting overall vitality and health. While aspects of Panchakarma have become increasingly prevalent in spas across the United States, the distinction lies in the presence of qualified Ayurvedic practitioners to oversee and facilitate a more profound healing experience. Before embarking on any intensive treatments, a comprehensive Ayurvedic assessment is conducted by Drs Desai and Diamond, who then tailors a specific regimen of therapies utilizing unique oils, herbs, and detoxification techniques customized to your unique body type and medical condition. Mira Devi excels as our dedicated and transformational Panchakarma therapist. She works closely with the doctors in a collaborative effort to optimize the therapeutic process. Her attentive and compassionate care and her therapeutic, blissful bodywork elevate the experience to the realm of extraordinary! Depending on your schedule, health considerations, and budget, you can opt for Panchakarma sessions spanning three, five, or seven consecutive days. Alternatively, individual treatments such as massage, the sweat box, and Shirodhara can also be selected as standalone options. Panchakarma is a gem of Ayurveda, designed to promote health, detoxification and improve vitality. We look forward to helping you experience this Ayurvedic treasure.

Yoga Nidra, translated as Yogic Sleep, is a type of conscious sleep, a state of body/mind relaxation accessed through your nervous system, allowing you to release tension, promote healing, and cultivate inner peace.

Unlike other forms of yoga, Yoga Nidra's goal is complete relaxation, making it accessible to all individuals, regardless of experience level.  This isn’t a yoga class, but a guided journey into a state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep, sometimes called Yogic Sleep, or Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR).   Click this link to learn more of the benefits of NSDR on the Huberman Lab Podcast  #NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) with Dr. Andrew Huberman

Benefits of Yoga Nidra: Stress Reduction: As you enter a state of deep relaxation, the practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which counteracts the body's stress response. This can lead to a decrease in stress hormones, improved emotional balance, and a sense of calmness. Enhanced Sleep Quality: Regular practice of Yoga Nidra has been associated with improved sleep duration, decreased sleep disturbances, and a refreshed feeling upon waking up. Mental and Emotional Healing: Yoga Nidra practitioners have the opportunity to explore and heal their emotional and psychological states. The practice helps release deep-rooted emotions, trauma, and mental patterns that may hinder personal growth. It allows for self-reflection, introspection, and a greater understanding of oneself. Increased Mindfulness and Focus: By directing your attention to specific sensations, breath, or visualizations during the practice, you develop the ability to stay present and focused. This heightened mindfulness can extend beyond the practice session, allowing you to be more present in your daily life and improve concentration and productivity. Physical Relaxation and Healing: The practice stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms, reducing muscle tension, lowering blood pressure, and supporting the immune system. It can also aid in pain management and provide relief from chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and migraines.
